Owen Wentworth
President, Board of Directors

Owen Wentworth Mr. Wentworth is a retired AT&T executive. During his 37 year career, he held positions in Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Strategic Planning, Network Engineering, Network Operations and Information Technology Management.
As a full time volunteer, Owen has focused his energies on various activities including Education, Workforce Development, and Economic Development. Owen is a founding member of the Florida High Tech Corridor Council and currently serves as the Chair of the IT Sector. He is a past Chair of the Lake Mary Heathrow Chamber of Commerce and served on the Merger Committee that created the Seminole County Regional Chamber. He currently serves as the Chair of the Chamber Education/Workforce Development Committee.

 

Kip Beacham
Secretary, Board of Directors
CBC of Seminole

Captain Beacham graduated from Tennessee State University with a degree in criminology. He worked for seven years for the Florida Department of Corrections as a Probation Officer. He moved to a Management position with the Department of Juvenile Justice where he oversaw the day-to-day processing of 200+ juveniles. In 1995, he came to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, Juvenile Assessment Center as the Assistant Manager. He has held several positions within the organization of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office since that time. In 2006, he was moved into the newly organized Community Services Division, in charge of the departments of Crime Prevention, Elder Services, Victims' Advocate, PIO and Weed & Seed.

Captain Beacham is currently an active member of the Oviedo Rotary Club, and serves on multiple Boards: The Metro Board of the Central Florida YMCA, Florida Hospital Foundation Board, Chairman of the Board of Safehouse of Seminole, Pathways to Care, the Homeless Services Network, the Orlando Area Trust for the Homeless (OATH) Board, and the Code of Enforcement Board of the City of Oviedo.

 

Emerson King
Member, Board of Directors
CBC of Seminole

Mr. King was born and raised in North Carolina. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1991. He has been in financial services since 1992. He left the industry in 2002 for two years in order to serve as Vice President of Marketing for the Washington Redskins organization. He returned to Merrill Lynch in 2004.

Mr. King is married and the father of four children.

 

Mike McLean
Member, Board of Directors
CBC of Seminole

Mr. McLean attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Mr. McLean has served in an elected capacity on the Lake Mary City Commission since November 2000 and appointed Deputy Mayor in December 2001, 2003 and again in 2005. He is currently serving his third 2 year term in local office. In addition, Mr. McLean serves on the Board of Directors of the Seminole County/Lake Mary Regional Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club of Lake Mary, the Lake Mary/Heathrow Festival of the Arts and United Heritage Bank.

Mr. McLean serves the City of Lake Mary as its representative on the Intergovernmental Relations Committee of the Florida League of Cities, Chairman of the Envision Seminole Board and Vice Chair of the Joint City/County Advisory Committee. He opened the Michael J. McLean Agency of Nationwide Insurance in Lake Mary in 1994 and was honored with the Seminole County Regional Chamber Small Business of the Year Award in 2000 and 2002. In addition, Mr. McLean was named Seminole Chamber Member of the Year for 2005. He is a proud member of Leadership Seminole Class of 2002.

Mr. McLean has served as a judge for the Miss Lake Mary Scholarship Pageant for the past four years. Mr. McLean was elected as the 2005-06 Chairman of Envision Seminole in July 2005. Mr. McLean recently celebrated seventeen years of marriage with his wife, Lisa. Two beautiful daughters, Tara and Kaley, and a feisty West Highland Terrier, Henry, round out the McLean clan.

 

Kellie Tomeo

Kellie Tomeo Ms. Tomeo moved to Orlando from Birmingham, Alabama when she was sixteen. She attended the Police Academy in Seminole County at 20. She worked in child support enforcement until she went to law school in 1994. She was a prosecutor in Seminole County from 1997 to 1998 and was a Statewide Prosecutor from 1998 to 2001 before opening her own law firm in 2001. Ms. Tomeo is now Chief Counsel of Gibraltar Integrity, Inc. and Vice President of Stratis Authority, Inc. both in Orlando, Florida. She is the wife of Louis Tomeo, a Lieutenant with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and mother to three children.

Ms. Tomeo is Alumni Chair of Leadership Seminole and a member of the Lake Mary Rotary Club.

 

Julianne Zabrecky
Member, Board of Directors

Ms. Zabrecky is currently the Vice President of Prescription Access Card, Inc. She recruits agents nationally to market her program and is responsible for all administrative aspects of the program. She has formally been employed with the Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Mental Health Program office with the State of Florida as the Juvenile Justice Coordinator providing oversight and program development for juvenile delinquents involved in the substance abuse or mental health system(s).

Ms. Zabrecky is married with two children and has raised her nephew for the past eight years. Her nephew was in the foster care system prior to living with Ms. Zabrecky.

 

Sandy Robinson

Sandy Robinson Sandy Robinson is a Seminole County School Board Member who has been active in public education for over 30 years as a parent, PTA member, dividend, and school advisory member. She attended Kent State University and has a BS in Fine Professional Arts and a minor in business. Sandy is involved in the Central Florida Public School Board Coalition, Seminole Regional Chamber of Commerce, Building Expansion Community, Leadership Seminole, myregion.org, and building expansion community. She has also been involved with Vestry/St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She has lived in Seminole county for 23 years.

Sandy is married to Garry and has 2 children, Allison & Brian.

 

John Gill
Finance Chair, Board of Directors
CBC of Seminole

Mr. Gill is the Director of Client Service Central Florida for Resources Global Professionals in Orlando, Florida. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Rollins College's Crummer School of Business with a Masters in Business Administration. He has been a resident of Florida for 35 years.

Mr. Gill is married to Dorothy and has two sons, ages nine and four years old.

 

Michael Ertel
Member, Board of Directors
CBC of Seminole

Michael Ertel was appointed the Supervisor of Elections for Seminole County on February 7, 2005 by Governor Jeb Bush. He was subsequently elected in November, 2006 by the voters of Seminole County. Governor Charlie Crist selected Ertel to serve as the chair of the Florida Citizen Review Group for the Department of State transition effort.

Since his initial appointment, the office has made significant improvements in services to voters and candidates under the office's new mission statement: Efficient Elections -- Excellent Service -- Fiduciary Conservatism -- Voter Confidence.

Prior to becoming supervisor Ertel spent eight years in the U.S. Army and was in the public relations field for 12 years, with stints as a public affairs representative for the U.S. Army during the Los Angeles riots, Macedonian, and Bosnian operations. In 1998 he became Seminole County government's first community information professional, guiding communications for the county government. After that, he was the director of public relations for a 185-location bank. In 2002 he completed the Harvard Program on Negotiation module on crisis communications titled How to Deal with an Angry Public. In 2003, PR News magazine named him as one of America's fastest rising communicators by presenting him the 15 to Watch Award.

His community involvement includes serving as an Executive Board member of the Central Florida Council Boy Scouts of America, a board member on the Seminole County Boys and Girls Clubs, and as the 2005 president of the Orlando-area chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Ertel is the District 6 representative (Orange, Seminole, Lake, Volusia, Brevard, Osceola counties) on the Legislative Committee for the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections.

Mike is a homegrown elected official, attending Red Bug, Sterling Park and English Estates elementary, Tuskawilla middle and Lake Howell high schools before attending the University of Maryland University College. He enjoys racquetball and Revolutionary history and the music of the Rat Pack. He and his wife Suzanne live in Oviedo.

 

Cynthia Blackwell

Cynthia Blackwell Cynthia Blackwell has been a resident of Central Florida for over 16 years. Her work experience is in the technology realm in the area of telecommunications and recently within information technology. She is a devoted mother of six children and grandmother of a 2 year old little girl. In 2006 she became a Partner and VP of Sales & Marketing for AOKNetworking, a full service I.T. Consulting firm based in Central Florida.

Ms. Blackwell is an avid believer in getting involved and giving back to the community especially when it pertains to children. She is an active member of the Seminole Regional Chamber recently appointed to the Board of Directors and is the Chairperson for the Small Business Industry Group, an active member of the Suburban Republican Women, Seminole and Orange League of Women Voters, Secretary of her HOA Board of Directors and the President of Sole Sisters ~ a women's shoe club.

Ms. Blackwell has been a passionate supporter of children and children's needs for most of her adult life. She believes the most important legacy to leave behind are the visions and future accomplishments of our children.

Ms. Blackwell is the wife of Alan Blackwell and mother to Rebecca, Greg, Angela, Blaire, Veronica and Christina and grandmother to Mina.
